Public Libility Limit of Indemity Increased to £10M

Following lengthy discussions with Aviva COSIS have secured an increase in the Public Liability limit of indemnity from £5M to £10M. Whilst public liability exposures are well managed across the Church we wanted to be sure that there was sufficient cover for a catastrophic event or for an incident that does not come to light for many years.

There should be no postcode lottery when handling claims for liability for personal injury therefore it was important to secure this additional protection for all churches.

Churches will see an increase in the public liability premium however this will be offset by a reduction in their property premiums so that overall premium levels should remain at similar levels to last year (prior to the effect of index linking which will be applied at 2.9% throughout 2019 unless there is a significant increase in inflation later in the year.)
