The Church of Scotland Insurance Services Ltd operates two principal schemes.
The first of these is the Church Scheme which has been developed with the needs of your congregation in mind and incorporates a range of automatic covers to create a wide insurance package at an affordable premium.
The Scheme is designed to provide cover for all the normal ecclesiastical activities of your congregation including the provision of cafe facilities, and charity shops. It also provides cover for non hazardous fundraising events.
The policy is divided into a number of sections with the first three providing cover for ecclesiastical buildings including manses. Several sections are automatically included to complete the standard package arrangements providing cover for church and church hall contents, legal liabilities, loss of revenue, money, glass, and personal accident amongst others.
Congregations are encouraged to support the Scheme since economies of scale enable affordable premiums to be delivered. The 2013 General Assembly also commended the Scheme and instructed all Financial Boards and Courts to insure all ecclesiastical buildings, contents, and liabilities through the arrangements. Moreover all profits generated by the Scheme are returned to the Church through Gift Aid.
